REIKI Integrative Health Care

reikiinmedicine.org Pamela Miles explains how Reiki can help you feel better and safely manage symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and fatigue, even if you are being treated for a health condition. Reiki is safe for people of all ages. It strengthens wellness and self-healing, and can be used to support any needed medical care. You can receive Reiki treatment from a professional or a friend, or learn to practice on yourself.

can you learn Reiki from an online course?

  • ReikiMedicine

Thank you for asking this question. Since Reiki is a completely unregulated practice, many permutations have occurred in the way Reiki is taught. Traditionally, Reiki practice is learned in-person with a Reiki master. The training is largely experiential, and that cannot be replicated in an online course.

Is reiki linked some how to the spiritual teachings of Saint Germain or the violet light or whatever that is cause that stuff scares me.

  • ReikiMedicine

Thank you for asking this question. Reiki practice developed in Japan and did not involve the teachings of Saint Germain or violet light. Some Western Reiki practitioners, however, have added these things.

  • swiv2d

@ReikiMedicine if you don’t mind me asking what is your opinion on St Germain and theosophy or whatever that is called. The people that do it are very persistant in trying to help you it almost makes me want to grab a wooden stake

It’s important to draw a distinction between teachings and the people who purport to practice them. I have met fine people who practice these teachings. I am, however, always suspicious of those who are persistent in trying to help others. Makes more sense to me to help people who want our help.

Pamela your book has been an inspiration to me and has encouraged me to take up my daily self treatments once again. I had let too many distractions interfere with my self care and felt the difference immediately upon starting again. Thankyou and hope you will continue to write on the wonderful subject of Reiki!

How wonderful to read this–thank you for taking the time to comment.

Is there any proof this works? it’s very dangerous to pretend to be someone who can offer medical help.
but her voice is absolutely soothing…i bet that would heal any muscle pain i had haha!

Search for The Dangers of Reiki Exposed on Youtube.

@MrProweed She does state (as most practitioners do) that this treatment is in addition to whatever medical help you’re already getting. She also says in the video that you need to make sure you’re getting all the medical help you require. I know my own teacher was very clear that if we had any concerns at all that someone might have an illness that needed any medical treatment we are required to let them know to get it checked out by a licensed doctor. Most of us really are here to help :-)

  • meathena

@6casi8modo9 I think that’s recently been disputed. Might be worth looking into for the most updated info since it’s being used in hospitals more now.

Reiki Master? That’s a bit like saying you’re the tallest midget. Pure and pointless woo. I lay down and relax and balance myself every single night, it’s called sleep. Unlike Reiki, sleep actually has benefits. No standards, she said it herself, now buy her book you brainless morons.

Claims for Reiki energy have no known theoretical or biophysical basis.

A 2008 systematic review of randomised clinical trials assessing the evidence basis of Reiki concluded that efficacy had not been demonstrated for any condition. Can you spell p-l-a-c-e-b-o?

  • ReikiMedicine

@griff868686 Ernst’s review said that there is not yet enough research evidence for Reiki to be recommended as a standard treatment for any medical condition. I completely agree, because as I say in the video, Reiki does not treat conditions, it balances the recipient’s overall system, reducing stress and optimizing the body’s self-healing. And also, research is just beginning. However, the studies that have been done have seen benefits statistically significant beyond placebo.

  • griff868686

@ReikiMedicine Reducing stress etc can be done just as easy as talking to someone you do in the video. I even admit listening to it has a soothing quality too it – you can’t go from that to vibrational energies in the body manifesting themselves through stress and being supressed by touch alone. I admit there is a small amount of viable science going on here but it is blanketed by the entirely false causal concepts.

  • ReikiMedicine

@griff868686 I don’t subscribe to the theories commonly circulated for how/why Reiki treatment works, but it’s not necessary to agree with theories to see that people find it beneficial.

Not everyone has a soothing voice, but anyone can be taught to have a soothing touch. People feel relief from pain and anxiety without taking more drugs. Even if it were placebo, what does it matter if people are benefiting? There is so much suffering in hospitals, the patients and the staff.

  • griff868686

@ReikiMedicine So we’ve established that regardless of the evidence, if people find it beneficial they should be allowed to accept such practices. The problem is you are deluding and manipulating people’s insecurities and misunderstanding of how the world actually works. Allowing such practicies to be carried out slows humanities ability to step out of the age of mysticism into the age of reason. Teaching people that their body is made up of vibrational energies when it isn’t is very subversive.

  • ReikiMedicine

@griff868686 If your accusations were based in fact, I wouldn’t have papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

  • griff868686

@ReikiMedicine The majority of Western civilizations don’t subscribe to Reiki because if it were so useful it would be in every medicial institution in the world. Could you give me an article which you think best convinces a skeptic of its uses please?

  • ReikiMedicine

@griff868686 Reiki treatment is already offered in many prestigious hospitals, as mentioned on the video, and the list is growing as more hospitals learn of Reiki and see that it helps patients without interfering with medical treatment. Patients who are less distressed have better medical outcomes.

I’m not interested in convincing anyone of anything, but if someone wanted to educate himself, medical papers and a credible, rational approach to Reiki are available on my website.
